Reading is a matter of life & death as well as quality of life issue, (from stop signs to parking signs, contracts to will and testaments). Illiteracy is the #1 causal factor leading to incarceration in the U.S.
Deep literacy is deep empathy, and the vocabulary of the imagination necessary for invention, innovation, neurological growth, mental & physical health.
The Genius Conference DESCRIPTION
The African-American Writers' Alliance & Langston Seattle are thrilled to announce our inaugural campaign to uniquely promote literacy with 'The Genius Conference!’ June 7th & 8th, 11am-6pm & 11am-8pm This 2 day Arts & Science showcase will provide FREE, accessible edutainment to all, centering strategic partnerships with underserved communities. We're offering creative arts workshops, performances, multicultural catering and continuing education opportunities to Youth & Adults. Our venue is the historic Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute located at: 104 17th Ave. S., Seattle, WA 98144
The Genius Conference by AAWA & Langston Seattle will celebrate the Arts & Sciences, bridging the gap in understanding how Writers are both cornerstone and pillars for these foundations of society. Writers understand the inextricable embrace of Hip Hop and legal argument, the innovative to invention threshold held between imagination and the Spoken Word. All Authorship is chronicling his/her and our stories from code writing and technical manuscripts to historic and science facts that began as science fiction. Writers magnify the mind over all, de-scribe, dissect and unmask our human experience. We are beyond excited to take this legacy, literary journey with you.
